17 July, 2015 Lesbian Indian Wedding – Promote Love
This week marks 2 years since the lesbian Indian wedding that I photographed in Los Angeles went viral. Well that sure did fly by. A whole lot has happened since Shannon & Seema’s love story unexpectedly spread around the world. All of 2014 was jam packed with gorgeous lesbian weddings and a lot of travel. This year I decided to continue what I was doing with wedding photography but I also wanted to take on something new. Something that would hopefully continue to make an impact within our community and our world. I didn’t want to lose momentum. As Caitlyn Jenner said in last night’s powerful speech at the ESPYs…“With attention comes responsibility. I am clear with my responsibility going forward, to promote a very simple idea: Accepting people for who they are. Accepting people’s differences.”
In May of 2015 I founded the Promote Love Movement, a social enterprise dedicated to promoting love everywhere you go in any way you can. Strangers becoming friends. Adventures & story telling. Lovers loving & Dreamers dreaming. Being true to yourself, being happy & coming together to do good. Together we Promote Love one story at a time.
Just like it always has, LOVE has quickly taken off. The Promote Love Movement has been featured in Huffington Post and in this months issue of Curve Magazine. What a perfect issue for it to be in…the #LoveWins and Marriage Equality Issue. We have so much to celebrate. If you are in the Dallas, TX area next month please plan to be at the Promote Love Marriage Equality party on August 13th. For this shindig, The Promote Love Movement is partnering with Equality Texas in order to give back to the community. We are so honored to have Chuck Smith, the Executive Director of Equality Texas, coming to speak about what marriage equality means for a lot of us now. So much progress has been made and there sure is a lot to celebrate, but we still have so much to do. I am completely amped for this and cannot wait to tell you more. For now, mark your calendars and get excited. If you thought the Promote love launch party was a blast…just you wait. Details soon HERE.
