How long have you been together?
3.5 years
Where do you two live? Tell us a little bit about what you both spend a majority of your time doing.
We live in a historic district of downtown Jacksonville, FL. We devote most of our lives to our dogter Miley so we like going for long walks through our neighborhood parks. In the summer, we love to boat and do water sports when we are not dodging hurricanes. When we’re not traveling for work, we love spending time with friends and family. We also like to think about joining a curling team.
What is the first thing you remember about the other when you first met?
Taylor: I remember I was sitting in the parking lot in my car like prepping myself for this date with this cute girl. I look up and this girl who I have never met, is standing right in front of my car like she knows exactly who I was. Never can forget that.
Mindy: We met for pizza and I remember her cute smile, pretty blue eyes, and carefree attitude. I’ll never forget how she convinced me to go to the beach after dinner like it was super close. It wasn’t.
How did the proposal go down?
Our proposal is epic AF. Taylor planned a surprise trip for both of us to India to celebrate Diwali. She proposed at this beautiful ancient fort right at sunset. I had just finished yelling at Taylor to come quick to see the view before the sun went down. Little did I know, she was lagging behind getting the ring and prepping others for pictures. She was nervous and cute and I didn’t hesitate a second. We had made many friends on the tour and it was so incredible to make memories celebrating our engagement on that trip with all of them. There was a second surprise to the engagement trip, we left India for Gili Lankanfushi in the Maldives!
Was there a memory from your wedding that sticks out more than others?
The first looks were pretty overwhelming for both of us. Seeing your bride for the first time is something you can’t forget.
Oh yeah, we also got locked out of the wedding venue with a group of our friends and a member of the band. That was pretty funny.
What is one piece of advice that you would give to other couples planning their wedding?
Stay true to yourselves throughout the whole process and don’t let anyone bully you into anything.
If you could change one thing about your wedding what would it be?
Not a damn thing.
Why did you choose the wedding venue/location you did?
We both wanted to do something quintessential Jacksonville. So, naturally, Intuition Ale Works was the place for us! It is a local brewery downtown within sight of the Jags stadium with a large industrial urban-chic venue available for events. We loved that they were also partnered with our favorite restaurant for catering, Black Sheep. Both paired together exquisitely.
Did you run into any issues with vendors who were not gay friendly?
We didn’t really run into any unfriendly vendors, but we did struggle to find an officiant we were comfortable with.
Top 3 things that make a marriage last?
1. Unconditional love
2. Silliness
3. Puppies
How supportive was your family about your wedding?
100% ALL GOOD!
What do you think makes it hard about planning a wedding without the support of your family?
The people who attended our wedding were our support and family. We are so happy to have everyone that we do in our lives! We are the most thankful for the love and support of Mindy’s family.
3 songs that remind you of each other:
Electric Love By Borns
In the Aeroplane Over the Sea By Neutral Milk Hotel
Rave On By M. Ward
Why’d you choose Steph to document your wedding day?
We both had been following Steph on IG. When we got engayged, we both immediately wanted her. She’s so hot rn. But honestly, her photography style is the perfect blend of modern and elegant. She truly is able to capture moments in a raw, real way. It’s not that easy to find that in a photographer these days. She is also so genuine, it’s hard not to want to work with her!
