A year ago today I had just landed back in Dallas from an epic wedding in Arizona. At the Tucson airport I decided to book a last minute trip to Aruba. Before I knew it I was boarding a plane to Aruba for a solo adventure for the holidays! I decided to start a new tradition where I would travel once a year without taking my camera equipment.

Funny how I went on this trip alone but came back with a grip of new friends. We spent the entire week together! Some from Boston, Canada, Sweden, Australia and Buenos Aires. We met in the ocean everyday, went to dinner together, went off-roading in jeeps, drank from coconuts, jumped off cliffs into a natural pool and even took a party bus around Aruba. I also got bit on the eye and had the worst allergic reaction and should’ve gone to the ER but I am stubborn. These new friends took care of me and wouldn’t leave my side until they found me some medicine. I looked like Will Smith in Hitch (those pictures will not be posted). The whole crew is back in Aruba today but this year my trip is going to be to Durango, CO for some time spent in a cabin in the snow with Angel & Monica. I can’t believe I met them exactly a year ago when I photographed their wedding and today I cannot imagine my life without them. I am going to miss the Aruba crew and the sunshine but I am so happy I have these memories!
