This one tugged at my heartstrings. Meet B & Mer…you might recognize these happy faces from their engagement session in Fort Worth, TX. Last month I got to travel with them and 14 of their closest friends to New York City for their wedding. Imagine right in the heart of the city…a garden. It didn’t even look like it was supposed to be there…but there it was Jefferson Market Garden. The perfect spot for a fall wedding. There was not a dry eye in that garden. This group had been through so much together and you could feel the bond between each one of them was very strong. Before the vows were exchanged the rings were passed throughout their friends where each one said a blessing over their marriage. I looked behind me and saw a crowd of onlookers from the streets who had gathered. They were closing their eyes during this part and I could tell that they felt how special this moment was for everyone. I was there with Brittni the night before in the hotel room in sweats as she read her vows out loud. I cannot tell you how important my clients are to me…they are my friends, we share so much together and these little moments remind me that life is short and ultimately, love is everything . Love those around you and take the time to be present for those little moments. At times I get wrapped up in documenting every single memory but I’m learning to put my phone away and just BE THERE. Soak in your surroundings and write about it later. Take a mental snapshot. Shed some tears and give hugs. My job involves documenting life and love but there has to be a good balance. After the ceremony there was a huge celebration…and then another…then another! We went from the garden to a rooftop with a killer view of the Empire State Building. We ventured to a private room upstairs at Palma where we all sat at a huge table, shared stories and watched a slideshow that the brides surprised all of their friends with! Just when I thought the night was over…NOPE. We went out on the town and sang karaoke and danced for hours!! Pretty sure that trip couldn’t have been any better. A few weeks later in Fort Worth there was a huge reception for all of their family and friends. We got to celebrate all over again! Enjoy my view from this New York City wedding adventure. A big thank you to Kimmie W. Photography for being my sidekick 2nd shooter for this one. So cool to have one of my past brides working with me!
