An LGBTQ+ WEDDING IN THE DALLAS GAYBORHOOD? Count me in. Not long after these photos of the iconic rainbow crosswalks (they run across Cedar Springs in the Oak Lawn neighborhood AKA: the gayborhood 🌈) were snapped I’d find out that they might be removed. “At the direction of Gov. Greg Abbott, state transportation officials told local leaders to remove crosswalk art often used to mark historically LGBTQ+ neighborhoods or risk losing millions in funding.” As a queer person who spent many of my “coming out” days in the Dallas gayborhood I find this ABSURD. I built this business in and around that neighborhood…photographing countless Queer Weddings, LGBTQ+ proposals and corporate events near the Dallas gayborhood. Including this one below.
Meet Marcella & Cory!
I first met Marcella about a decade ago when I randomly photobombed a group photo she was in while at an LP concert. Right place right time! We remained friends over the years and I was stoked when I got the message that she had met a wonderful person and that they were getting married! I’m lucky to have gotten to to spend time with her, Cory and their entire crew at their wedding celebration at the Warwick Melrose in the Gayborhood on Dallas Pride weekend. Honestly, one of the best ways to celebrate pride if you ask me. 🌈 Enjoy some moments below from their wedding day!
