18 December, 2015 Mendocino, CA Lesbian Wedding
I can’t imagine being that wedding photographer that just comes in, shoots and then leaves. How boring. I can’t even go to the grocery store without making it a huge ordeal. Everything needs to be an adventure in my life and I am so happy that that has carried over into my career. I think I would surely perish if I were ever bored with work. My clients are the very best and I am so lucky to have each one of them because they all appreciate a good adventure story as much as I do.
Let me paint you a picture of Paige & Tammy’s wedding weekend! I flew into San Francisco and met up with a couple from Orange County I have been talking to for years (but we had never met.) They ended up putting together a video of Paige & Tammy’s wedding so it was FINALLY time to meet and roadtrip together. We were off from SF to Mendocino (which is a little town along the coast) and to get there you have to go through the giant redwoods. I was in awe. How had I lived in CA for 27 years and never seen theses magical redwoods? Probably because the timing was right and that moment was perfect. We listened to Ryan Adams for most of the ride. I had my window down… fresh air and the scent of trees and campfires whipping through my hair. It was easy to see everything because the moon was so bright. We passed by a general store and knew we were almost there so we played “Out of the Woods” for our final song. Duh. We got out of our car and heard the ocean…we really weren’t sure what to expect when we made our way through the dark. I had my own little cottage with a porch overlooking the ocean AND a little wood burning stove. WHAT?! We had a glass of wine and talked about how excited we were to get up early and have coffee on the porch. I woke up at 6am and ran outside so fast…like I was going to miss something. No one likes missing that first breath of foggy, fresh ocean air in your lungs. I was one happy camper and knew I’d be reliving this very moment for years to come.
We finally got to squeeze Tammy and Paige and meet their best friends. They are both the absolute sweetest. After the ceremony we all made for the wilderness before we lost the light! I felt like a kid playing in the forest and climbing trees with my friends. We also had the most intense sing a long on the way to the forest…as it should be. I can’t wait to reunite with Tammy, Paige and the LesTravels crew one day but for now take a look at my view from this weekend. Oh and make sure you play the song because it’ll make you extra sappy.
