11 December, 2015 Lesbian Wedding San Francisco by Steph Grant
This entire trip to San Francisco was a dream. This was my last wedding of 2015. Dannng was that the cherry on top of another awesome year or what?! ‘Twas.
First off, I stayed in a treehouse near the Muir Woods. I didn’t have reception, I went hiking and took a book. At night I would go into the small town of Mill Valley, CA and visit the shops and eat a quiet dinner with some red wine. Each morning I would bundle up and take a stroll for my morning coffee at Equator Coffee. Do yourself a favor and go visit the one at Proof Lab. There’s a surf shop right next door. It was perfect.
Just when I thought it couldn’t possibly get any better I met Sara and Amber. They had just gotten back from getting their hair and makeup done and I couldn’t snap their photos fast enough! We had just enough time for some quick hugs then it was time to get started. Seriously, an airsteam, bright red lipstick, a vintage veil and the Golden Gate Bridge at sunset… does it get any better?! I think not. We were running around the city trying to get shots before the sun set. We made it with only a few minutes to spare. Here are some snaps from the day and a little Q & A with the gorgeous brides. Also, if you want to see some behind the scenes action from my SF adventures click on this hashtag #StephSeesSanFran
1. How did you two meet and how long have you been together?
We met at work and have been together 5 years! We started hanging out more and more and those nights of “hanging out” turned into date nights. Before we knew it we were signing our lease for our first apartment together; then we blinked and we were standing at the rotunda at City Hall in San Francisco getting married.
2. Why did you guys choose to have your wedding in SF?
Why not get married in San Francisco?! San Francisco is a beautiful city that has open arms and tells you to come as you are! We love the diversity of the City and we always feel welcomed.
3. What do you think it takes to really make a relationship last for the long haul these days?
You have to have the kind of love that shakes you to your core and that love will bring trust, communication, openness and humor. And of course, the ability to love each other’s families.
4. What is one thing that stands out from your wedding day that you’ll never forget?
The simplicity and the smoothness of the entire wedding day is what stands out the most for us,. Everything just fell into place. From watching the sunset at Muir Beach the day before our wedding, our airstream, our close friends and family, the weather and the ceremony. Everything was simple, intimate, and meant to be…just like us!
